Summer Aquatics Programs - Thursday, May 28, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation, Aquatic Division is postponing the start date of our Summer 2020 activities as we are committed to providing safe quality services.  

The department has researched federal, state, and recommended health guidelines for a phased recovery plan and is waiting on further guidance from local government and health officials in order to safely re-open city aquatic facilities.  Prior to re-opening, the department will review federal, state, and local directives, as well as best practices established by other aquatic facilities across the country. 

Pended programs include:

·       Public swimming at city pools,

·       The Learn to Swim program originally scheduled for Monday, June 01, 2020 and all subsequent Learn to Swim sessions,

·       Wellness Programs, such as lap swimming and water aerobics,

·       Swim Team Practices,

·       Pool Rentals,

With all aquatics programs, the department anticipates capacity limits with increased restrictions and safety guidelines once it resumes. A registration feature has been enabled without paying for those wishing to sign up. Any money collected to date will receive a full refund due to continued closure.

The department has researched federal, state, and recommended health guidelines for a phased recovery plan and is waiting on further guidance from local government and health officials in order to safely re-open city recreational programs and facilities. Prior to re-opening, the department will review federal, state, and local directives, as well as best practices established by other recreational facilities across the country.

·       Summer Camp

·       Mobile Recreation

·       Lunada

·       Sports Leagues

With all recreational programs, the department anticipates capacity limits with increased restrictions and safety guidelines once it resumes. A registration feature has been enabled so you can secure your spot without paying for those wishing to sign up. Any money collected to date will receive a full refund due to continued closure.
