About this park
Known as one of the most attractive inner city parks in the US, this 1-acre park opened in 2000.
The park features a playground, a mini-waterfall landscaped with tropical foliage, two basketball courts, and several picnic tables with BBQ grills.
This successful Urban Renewal Project was constructed on a property that housed a condemned apartment complex in Central Brownsville. Originally named St. Charles Park, the site was renamed Harry E. McNair Park in 2006.
Mr. McNair was a former City of Brownsville mayor and city commissioner, a World War II veteran, served on various civic organization boards, and was the director of the Valley Zoological Society. Mr. McNair also served as chairman of the Historic Brownsville Museum for 20 years.
McNair Park is a great place to enjoy an afternoon picnic with friends and family.
